Title: Marvel's Xmen: The Gifted - TV Show
Post by: Nekobaghira on May 11, 2017, 07:09:51 AM
Looks like there will be an Xmen TV show .... with Bryan Singer at the helm.

Quote
Bryan Singer, the writer-director-producer behind many of the X-Men films, is bringing more mutants to television. His new Fox series, The Gifted, will follow a family that goes on the run when two human parents figure out that their children are mutants. The first teaser for the show dropped Wednesday, and episodes will air in the fall.

Teenage angst is a drawback for me. For some odd reason, this makes me think of "Witch Mountain" in a funny way.  :)

Witch Mountain lol... It looks good so far. I hope they push the envelope and just go all in on the lore. Don't be afraid to confuse people.

Not excited really.

It will be like TMNT where turtles are support characters. Or like Transformers

Just make me X-Factor with Madrox

While the show is about a family with human parents... their kids are mutants. AND there's no X-Men in the title. It just takes place in their universe. I fully expect Polaris, Blink, Proudstar, etc.. to be stars of the show. I'm excited. Much more so than I was for stupid SHIELD.

I don't know... the parents are the 'biggest names', actor wise. I'd expect them to get a lot of focus. Also wondering how the 'Strucker' thing is going to work (the family are the Struckers, who are usually bad guys...)

I have no interest in this show.  Of all the stuff under the X-Men umbrella and they are going with this.  Just seems kind of lame to me when I think what comes to mind when I hear about an "X-Men TV series".  And I really believe Bryan Singer needs to GO AWAY!

@cc008 regarding SHIELD .... I can't believe that show is still on. I lost interest so quickly with it. I have no idea whats going on and I don't even want to find out.

As for this new show .... I didn't know the family was named the Struckers ... oof ... poor choice perhaps or no clue about the comics. Either way .... unless I see something compelling in promo/teasers/trailers ... I'm not gonna spend time with it.

On the other hand, if it does well ... that may green light other Marvel projects.

The only reason I watched SHIELD originally was because of Coulson. I really liked him in the movies. All of the other characters in that show were so corny and boring and just blah. I really hope this is better, because I'm really excited for it. Funny that it bumped Gotham from its Monday spot.

But that show is lame.

Just saw the trailer and, with Blink and Polaris being characters, I am suddenly very interested in this show. It seems like the execution of the show will be fairly good also

So I watched the show.. made some hot takes while watching...

How did they know she was in the building?
Who the hell is Marcos?
Why are the cops shooting at the building blindly?
Bellview? Like the sanitarium?
Strucker, as in Baron Von Strucker?
Joe Queasada is exec producing? Complex over?
Why would they call the gene, an X-Gene?
Can sense bolts in a knee but nowhere else? So there no metal pipping under the cell? Around it?
Why not just keep Lorna sedated?
Sister has that Claire Temple cheerleader vibe. Feeling guilty.
People don't dance no more, all they do is this.
Those guys are way too interested in that kid
Neo Nazi haircut?
Why is she just standing there?
So how long until Marvel writes these kids into the books.
Digging the show so far.
Well it's your fault dad. Men pass on the gene... Right, X2?
Coming from church? Great blame it on the Lord.
I think Mom is in denial.
That's a dope kitchen.
Hey, the guy from Burn Notice.
Sentinels, huh?
Pushing into a house... Great way to not escalate a situation.
Slowest... Garage door... Ever
Thor Ragnarok looks good. Why did my phone predict "Ragnarok"?
I think Dad is in denial.
Amy Acker as a blonde... Dig it. Damn she can act. That single tear.
Dad seems pretty sincere. Telling me they didn't trust him? They live with the guy!
Don't trust Carla.
Stepping out a seedy motel in daylight. Big hoop earrings... At least two pair.
She's just throwing bubble wrap.
Yep, he pushed everything away but her...
Focus on how he felt? Takes it to a dark place, she does. Yeah, don't forget the Reece's Pieces!
If you know about the X-Men, those weren't the X-Men.
Teleporters 101, can't go where they haven't been!
Who heard that TAS ringtone!? Sounded sooo Nokia brick phone.
He knocked up Magneto's daughter?!
LoL you kept your license plate?!
Stan the Man...
No one else saw that palm trick? I mean if he's not trying to hide, what's the point in all the cloak and dagger?
Blackmail isn't a great place to start a relationship fellas.
Duct tape would not make that toy work again..
I'm guessing this tracking, super strong mutant is Thunderbird?
Seriously, no one likes sitting in the sticky spot.
Mom's trippin.
They are stopping really far away. Facest America.
These cops are idiots. Did no one think they could just run through one of those many unguarded doors?
Robot spiders... Ok that's pretty terrifying
I don't get... Why can't she make a portal?
Ok... I'll stick around for this. Enjoyed this way more than Inhumans.

I thought this was great. Glad it was an hour long because I wasn't ready for it to end at 9:30 lol. Eclipse's TAS ringtone was great. Love the characters, loved the action. Can't wait for next Monday.

I just don't understand why they felt it necessary to create Eclipse.

It was good. I finally watched it today. I'll stick with it for a bit. It certainly was intense in places. LOL I loved the action and I like how the show explained away some things so that you don't have to worry about it, eg. Xmen/Brotherhood.

No offense to those who love the Legion TV show ... but this I could actually follow and wasn't confused.  ;D

Acting, action, CGI, and story were all really good.

Solid second episode - I'm amazed with the effects, the story isn't too clunky, and its progressing well. :)

I like Marcos, and Polaris. The power Lauren has looks cool too.

The VFX are incredible and were amazing in the second episode. I loved the first and thought this one was even better.

As small as it was, the MLF reference was my favorite part. It actually blew my mind.. that's a pretty hardcore namedrop if you ask me.

I was shocked by that myself because of how deep a cut it is. I cant believe the episode writer used it! That group has all kinds of super sweaty details and even time travel on-top of time travel. Not your average reference! Stupid hardcore. I'm impressed and I'm really enjoying this show... but its not the first time FOX has produced an awesome show just to cancel it for something sub par IE cheaper to produce.

This show is making me very impatient with other superhero shows ie all of the CW. It makes the writing there look like something off of PBS. I'm really digging this thus far. And I'm so glad the sister isn't wearing that super tight sweater. It was really distracting.

I agree. It was intense in places. I have found that each episode has that intensity somewhere in the eppy. Its good because of being engaged, but sometimes I'm not good with that stuff - meaning my reaction is strong.

There is so much to like about this show. Even the bad guys (sentinels) are more than just the "villain" as it were. I think they should add more than the one guy though, but for now its good.

I like how the powers are shown too.

I would LOVE for Gambit to be in this even if it was minor. :)

I don't think surgery works that way but... Ok. I really hope this show keeps amping up the danger. If I had to compare the state of their world to the comics, I'd say it was approaching Operation Zero Tolerance. It'd probably be expensive but I'd love to see their version of an Omega Sentinel. The full sized robots never really worked outside of animation or the books (even in DoFP they weren't all that huge). But Omega Sentinels are human sized. Basically man-made superhuman cyborgs. I think a handful would look great on TV. Push the stakes up.

Villains like Bastion and Graydon Creed would be awesome on this show. Zero Tolerance, Friends of Humanity, all that stuff. Would love to see them get there.

Lol true. It would be cool if the guilds were active in this show though.

Its not impossible, they have been really building and expanding the concepts and using characters you would not expect without taking away from its main cast. While I don't know if the guilds would be shown, it would be cool.

The take on these characters while the shell is still there or the skeleton of them, what they've done with them has been handled well.

The general look of the powers is done well too, very good with special effects.

And in yesterday's episode the cause and effect of not using the powers probably or knowing that you could be hurting the person was done well. Despite the fact, they just had to leave, that character with the memory thing didn't want to leave the agent that way and I liked that humanizing element. The fact the agent will go through certain anguish again will just make him even more dangerous.

I ended up binge watching the whole season, and yeah, I enjoyed it. I mean, obviously it's not the perfect X-men show (as no X-men A-listers are part of the cast), but there are enough B and C-listers to make the show interesting. I would say Polaris was a stand out for me, plus they add a few more characters later on which I thought made things more interesting. I don't care for the family though. Honestly, the writers could write them out and I wouldn't even care.

And yes, watch season 2 of Legion!  :)

The second season of "The Gifted" is underway. It's not bad but .... the last episode that aired this week was incredibly gritty in certain areas.  I'm not sure I'm liking some of the direction.
I know I don't like where Polaris' story has gone. But what can you do.

There is some "questionable" things. I get the ideology, to show desperation and the willingness to go to extremes but sometimes its too much or doesn't seem to work, if that makes sense.
There is a recurring character who is back and I just can't care about his plight. It doesn't work.

I probably won't keep with this show.
Title: Re: Marvel's Xmen: The Gifted - TV Show

Show's ok. I find Polaris a bit too self righteous but I suppose it sort of makes sense. My biggest gripe with the show is how they insist on creating new characters instead of using one of the literally hundreds available. I think the problem lies with the writers being good ones, but not much in the way of real X-Men fans. Its a lot to know, and if Disney/Marvel aren't REALLY involved, they are probably using a lot of wiki, trades, and memory derived from XTAS.

It's on Tuesday Nights, I watched the latest episode and I'm confused now. Its gotten far too complex for its own good.
I don't know where Polaris sent her child, but she sent her away. Why? I don't know. Carlos got completely screwed with this development.

The bald guy and his righteousness is more than annoying.

While I don't keep up with everything that is canceled, I can tell you that according to Gamespot.com
They have a list of shows that are done.

The Gifted is one of those. I'm not surprised.
