Title: Welcome to the Bourbon Street Grill!
Post by: SmurfButcher Bob on November 01, 2006, 11:32:38 PM
...party of how many?  And would you prefer a table, or will you be seated at the bar.  Yes, I see.  We have a space available, right over here.

Thank your sir, I'll sit right here.  What a lovely place.  May we play cards? Shuffleboard?  or the like?  This place looks real inviting for fun.  Friendly, warm and well a place to just plain spend some time with.  Love it.

Erm, did this turn into some sort of freaky-doo roleplaying session?

If so, don't forget I'm an incredibly dashing and cavalier gentleman!

no, not so much role play as in, let just chat about life, universere and everything.  Its just hard to get those to chat about it without a drink or social setting.  This thread is really just to chat.
Add some fun that may seem role play but not.  More like adding atmosphere.

Soooo, here have a seat, I can prattle on about my cat if you'd like.  bwahah.  Or we'll just get you a bev and you can pick the topic.

Title: Re: Welcome to the Bourbon Street Grill!

Well, somewhat appropriate for us, as it turns out... your worst "kitten (dog/ferret/rabbit/whatever) jumped in the toilet" story?
Title: Re: Welcome to the Bourbon Street Grill!
Post by: Canemacar on November 08, 2006, 12:25:39 AM
Well, my cat didn't so much "jump in the toilet", as I "dumped him in there with a bunch of shampoo, slammed the lid down, and flushed repeatedly in order to bathe him"
Title: Re: Welcome to the Bourbon Street Grill!
Post by: xenokattz on November 08, 2006, 01:01:14 AM
Two of my 3 year-old cousins dunked their hands in the toilet then boasted about it. Does that count?

Don't know where else to put this, but since this is sort of an "off-topic" section, I guess it'll fit here.

http://ic1.deviantart.com/fs10/f/2006/136/2/b/X_men_sprites.jpg

I'm trying to get someone to crop Gambit of that image and make it into an avitar. Is anyone here skilled in the art of avi-crafting? And if anyone is willing to help me, could I also get a second one with both Gambit and Rogue in it(with Gambit placed to the right of Rogue so she isn't punching him)?

My one cat used to drink out of the toilet, but cause he's...well...fat...he had to balance with this two paws IN the bowl. After being besplattered by him shaking his paws off we quickly learned to keep the lid down.

My other cat adores to drink out of my bath. Unfortunately this is the one time where she always seems to lose her balance and end up on top of poor naked vulnerable me IN the tub. Which she promptly exits. At the cost of my hide.

One time, I was sitting on the toilet, you know, having a tinkle. I do my business, stand up, turn to flush, and quick as a flash a kitten ran in, jumped up at me and sploosh! Right into the not-yet-flushed toilet! She had her first bath and a few seconds later she had her second one! Stupid cat! (Her name was, appropriately, S**thead)  :o

ROFL - poor kitty.  But ... kittens are not known for smarts in the beginning.  Life to them is all playtime.

Thanks for the offer, but I got CrazyDragon on the case.

This place is getting kinda dead. Time to spark some conversation. And since this is a comic book (thus geek) board:

Picard > Kirk

Discuss.
Title: Re: Welcome to the Bourbon Street Grill!

Kirk got laid more than Picard...
Title: Re: Welcome to the Bourbon Street Grill!
Post by: paws on November 09, 2006, 02:06:55 AM
Granted, but I have to say that if I had to choose between them, I'd still pick the bald guy that's old enough to be my Grandpa. Maybe...well - he's definately old enough to be my dad. :P Still, Kirk comes off as a womanizer to me, and not is a good 'Remy' way but in a 'creepy guy at the bar' way.

I loved Kirk in the movies, but (though my husband adores the origionals) I just end up howling at them. Its just...the way...he talks. I know that he had a hard time remembering his lines, and that is why its like that. I was a teen when the new series was running, and I adored it. So maybe it was just that I sunk my teeth into that one first, and perhaps that is why I prefer Picard. That and my absolute lack of ablility to take the mini skirts and unmovable aquaneted hair seriously I suppose :D.

Nope!  Still Kirk, open and shut.  After watching Jim Carey do a Kirk immitation... Picard rules, but "Spoocckkk...  HE's not... ME!"

Literally, it all comes down to acting. I could watch Kirk all day... and the fact that the stories are decent, well, that's icing on the cake  ;D   Picard... excelled at the usual fare and was quite convincing, but never quite got the whole "passion" (I'm really pissed off / we're all gonna die / I'm gonna mutilate you / etc) thing down. Not in a convincing manner, at least... but he tried, and it didn't work.  Kirk, OTOH, failed worse - but it didn't matter - the audience had already "suspended belief" when it came to his responses, so it worked perfectly!

Granted, I'm a lover of MST3k as well, so my opinions may need to be qualified.

Ah frick. The kitten is trying to help me type.
Title: Re: Welcome to the Bourbon Street Grill!
Post by: Canemacar on November 09, 2006, 03:12:48 PM
Picard was too dignified to wear his emotions on his sleeve. The only thing Kirk had going for him was that he was so bad you couldn't take it seriously.

Funny thing happened to me today. I went to the library to get something to keep me busy, but it turns out I have $89 is late fees because I had forgotten to return three books a while back and they didn't have my current address so they couldn't contact me. I can now honestly say a library has gotten a collections agency after me.

Yeah a forum based rpg, I think it would be fun.  And I can tell from the chats that there is a definite interest in trying it.

As far as stats and stuff go.  I dunno, maybe one of our rpg fans will drop in and give us some pointers.

Not sure if how far we want to go?  Are taking character names or are we just rollplaying?

Drinks arrive infront of Protege moi and myself.*sips drink*

OMG! Was that last post really me?  :o

Damn, I should never sit at my computer while I'm drunk LOL
I'm still wondering myself how I could write on my keyboard in a drunken-state  :idiot2: Normally I would write something abstruse with a lot of typing errors, lol.
I'm even wondering why the hell I was sitting at my PC yesterday in the evening.

But one thing is sure - I've got a headache today :P That's Why most people of my class (and me) didn't go to school today ^^"" LOL

I was on a school-trip yesterday to an art exhibition called "Documenta 12" in Kassel. We thought it would be exciting of what the teachers told us - exciting art etc.
We thought it would be almost so big as the EXPO. But it wasn't and we have been really dissapointed. Added to that, we had a boring guide who talked like a robot, LOL. I've almost fallen asleep.

The art wasn't exciting as well. We had seen almost nothing of that what the Documenta prospects promised us.
I've been on better art exhibitions. Blerg.

When we left, we have been all dissapointed. So we went to a grocery store, bought enough bottles of Smirnoff vodka and drank, lol. Later we have been "full", wandering drunken through the city to our school-trip busses. Some random people looked weird at us because the boys started to shout out loud weird things like "GULACHSEN!" or "NACKENWULZT!" (Don't ask me what this mean, because those words don't really make a sense at all, LOL).
And yeah, I think we were grinning like idiots.
At least we haven't sung weird songs like on the last class-trip to spain, LOL.

We reached the busses and went back home. But during the drive the guys started to shout weird things again, we started to laugh like hyenas and our classteacher and busdriver got pissed.

Ah well, I've reached my home, but I was still in a drunken-state so don't ask yourself why I was writing such stupid things LOL

This is really embarassing ^^"
Sorry guys, I wasnt really myself yesterday ^_^""""" *sweatdrop*

So whazzup people?

Uhm... is it me or why isn't anyone using the GG chat room anymore?

Blerg, I write a lot of tests next week  >:( I hate work.
I was feeling sick about almost the whole fall vacation - because of my little brother who had the flu and infected me. Now he's healthy and I'm feeling like I've been hit by a truck.
Ah well, anyways...
I still have to write 3 long letters in english to a penfriend in Vietnam, Pakistan and here in Germany LOL. I still don't know what to write...
HA! But they are X-Men-fans! LOOOL.

My best friend have birthday in two weeks. But I don't know what gift I should buy for her. She is a big Animefan, btw, lol. And currently staying in Wuppertal with her boyfriend. Hm... maybe I buy her a manga... lol

Soooooo... the first previews of X-Men #204, huh? I like the pic. Even if Remy-demy is looking *too* sad for my taste. Ah well.

Hi CD,

Glad to see you are back.

The chatroom has its moments, it gets busy for awhile then it quiets down.  I think everyone is more busy at certain times of the year which means the chatroom isn't in use as much.  There has been some effort to keep it busy but it hasn't quite panned out.  Mostly due to the fact that this is nothing we can do about time zones.  When its good for those on the North American Continent its not good for those on the European Continent.  So, its not been easy to coordinate.  A weekend I suppose would be best but again, weekends are when people usually go out and do things.  Anyway, we keep trying to keep it busy.  Then there are those who really don't ever want to use the room but visit the site often.  What can you do.

Work is blah or at least I don't really have much to say about it.

Fantasy Football has kept me busy, actually its a nice distraction from work when work is stressing me.

My cats are crazy.  But that is always the case.  One of them was injured, vet gave her meds and she's stuck in the house until she's all healed up (or in this case when the meds are gone).  I'm not sure how much more destruction I can take.  And the vet did say for as long as you can until you can't.  They know this cat pretty good.  LOL  She hates her meds too.  She bite me pretty hard the other day.  So, today, after the meds, a treat! I'll see if that doesn't improve the nasty disposition.  :D  The kittens are going in next week for a check up and to have surgery.  (can't have any babies now).

I have some volunteer work on Sunday helping people make scare crows proceeds benefit the fire department SBB volunteers for.  He helps out but only with the stuff that isn't near the hay (he gets all stuffed up when he's near hay).

Going to a football game or as my friends and I call it .. "Saturday social".  That would be because the team is so bad that there isn't even a line on it, no bookie would put one on this game.  The other team is favored by 37.  The reason no line, its not worth the risk.  A couple of weeks ago, our team won which blew the odds away since the other team was favored by 40.  LOL  Gambling cracks me up.

I gotta go, its pill time and I need to see how many bandages I'll be wearing for game time.  LOL

I've been extraordinarily busy with work, because of the approaching holidays. Once the holiday hits I'll be free again.

I'm back! (AGAIN lol)

I've been offline for weeks because of a stupid provider-change which took a month!  >:(
Ah well... look what I've missed already!
Alright, I'm soooo looking forward to X-Men #204 this week! Can't wait to read it.

A classfriend of mine is a goth and she told me about her other goth-friend who had inherited mortician's after the death of his father. He sold the company but kept the hearse. Now he is driving with a hearse even to his workplace and his boss has nothing against it, lol. And the best part is - on the front passenger seat is sitting a skeleton! You have to imagine, when he is driving too fast and those automats are taking pictures of him AND the skeleton LOL.

We want to ask him, if he could come to a Halloween-party which will take place at school. That would be great lol.

So what's up guys? Looks like my english sucks like always, lol. And I've got good marks in English last week! I can't believe it...
And even good marks in French!

Wheeee! :D

Oh man, I have so much work for school to do now...
And I have to draw/paint pictures for 2 art contests... *dies*

Happy Valentine's Day everyone! How was your Valentine's day? So, what are everyone's plans for today? Or what did you do, if you did something already?

Woohoo! Group hug!

I'm sorry I disappeared off the face of the earth. Level 2 Nursing is Not Of The Lord-- we've had 2 people quit completely and another 3 drop out of clinical which means they have to repeat the year.

But the good news is that if anyone has any questions that House, Grey's Anatomy and wikipedia can't answer, I'd be more than happy to give info. ;)

Yay CD! We'll have to get in chat sometime!
I've been less active than usual because of the end of the school year. It feels like I have a test every other day! I'll be really glad when this school year is over. It's been really taxing.

::is a strange stranger::

Hi everyone! I miss this place like burning. I survived the the first year of nursing school AND the first half of the term dealing with sick kids and postpartum moms; I'm now off to mental health rotation after which I'm pretty sure I will be ready to enter a mental health institution.  :o

Hope you all have having a great autumn so far!

I didn't want to start a new thread on this because it only comes around once a year. Plus there's been an influx of new members from countries outside of the U.S. LOL

LOL - I can't even think about it or talk about it (Jan 20th). Its still too volatile of a topic.  It was the most bizarre election year. Historic none the less though but bizarre. If nothing else ... America has Interesting written all over it.
