Alright, I will start this thread off by saying that this is not the place to express your extreme displeasure of the Rogue/Gambit relationship.

The other existing thread for the couple currently has a fair balance of love/hate, but you know what, proselytizing as to why this brilliantly flawed, doomed, tragic, star-crossed relationship "sucks" isn't everyone's cup of tea. So let's keep things positive, shall we?

Let's get this rolling then, fanon and canon commentary welcome. Answer a few questions, ask a few questions yourself, and if you're a writer, by all means, let loose the plot bunnies.

Round The First: (Keep it clean, people!)

1) What, in your opinion, has been the best Rogue/Gambit moment in canon?

2) What was the most heart-wrenching?

3) What was your favourite ROMY moment in fanfiction? (Links please!)

4) What's the oddest quirk these two have?

5) If Rogue and Gambit were stuck on an island, what would you equip them with to make the best of their time alone?

6) What's the sweetest thing Gambit ever did for Rogue that she doesn't know about?

7) What do you feel gets in the way of their relationship the most?

Cool What's the one thing Rogue has wanted to do for Remy since they first met?

9) If Rogue and Gambit weren't mutants, what would they be doing right now?

10) This one time, sitting on the roof of the Institute, Remy and Rogue discovered a new star. What do you think they named it?

Oh, here we go. (And I mean that in a good way.)

I figured out that since I'm making pixel dolls of them again,
then I must still be a Romy fan deep down. Guess it takes
awhile for this stuff to come back after months of neglecting it.

Now, let's see if I can answer some of these questions.

1) What, in your opinion, has been the best Rogue/Gambit moment in canon?

Gotta be when Gambit nearly dies in X-treme.

2) What was the most heart-wrenching?

That I've read, probably that part in the Golgatha
saga where he believes she was never worth it.
It was pretty sad.

Or Antartica, but I never read that.

3) What was your favourite ROMY moment in fanfiction? (Links please!)

I'm stricken with frustration, as there was
this great Evo fic that I read and loved
that is probably gone forever.
(Originally found on ff.net.)
It was a "what-if" where Gambit helped her
out, rescuing her during self-possesed.

As I don't read too much "serious" fan-fic,
one moment that struck a chord
was after he'd gotten her a de-powering ring.
They were in his bedroom and it was something
about how niether of them wanted to go
further eventhough she was finally able to
touch. Very sensible, moral, gentlemanly
and sweet.
Second only to when he brought
her into his apartment; Very carefully
in his "well-toned arms". smitten

4) What's the oddest quirk these two have?

Edit:
(do over!!)

They both have personalities that are too strong
in one sense or another.

5) If Rogue and Gambit were stuck on an island, what would you equip them with to make the best of their time alone?

Sunscreen, tequila, and no powers.
(And no, I'm not trying to be iffy.
Was thinking more along the lines of a great
make-out session.)

6) What's the sweetest thing Gambit ever did for Rogue that she doesn't know about?

...Wrote her a love sonnet, but tucked it away in a drawer.

7) What do you feel gets in the way of their relationship the most?

Two words: No touching.

Or

Mystique.

8)What's the one thing Rogue has wanted to do for Remy since they first met?

Be able to touch him.

Or

buy him a new motercycle.

9) If Rogue and Gambit weren't mutants, what would they be doing right now?

Making-out.

10) This one time, sitting on the roof of the Institute, Remy and Rogue discovered a new star. What do you think they named it?

Romy. Grin
(Why not ?)

1: The picnic that gets interrupted by first Bishop, then Bella.

2: Anterctica. Things said and done in Golgotha should be taken with a grain of salt since everyone was debatably insane at the time.

3: Can't remember.

4: He actually cares what she thinks about him.

She's kind of a basket case.

5: 2 whiffleball bats and a first-aid kit. They need to work out some of their frustrations.

6: Got her a Christmas gift he stole from some European noble.

7: No touching. They've proven they can get along just fine without it messing things up.

8: Have his kids.

9: A Bonnie&Clyde esque crime spree.

10: That shiny thing.

I'm gonna give this a shot...

1. The thing that sticks in my mind was when she was blind and he took care of her. So sweet.

2. Antarctica or Seattle.

3. It's been a long while since I read Romy but I'm sure it was probably something by Valerie Jones! Smiley

4. don't know.

5. A couple of bottles of wine and a pair of handcuffs Remy can't slip out of and Rogue can't break too easily... they need to talk without one or the other of them running away.

6. I'm sure there are dozens but I can't think of any right now.

7. Rogue always assuming that because they can't touch they can't work as a couple. Remy doesn't care!

8. Trust him completely

9. Probably loving each other desperately between fights... they both have tempers the size of Texas! Wink

10. He would smile and say, "The Sign." She would laugh and say, "Impossible." Then he'd take her chin gently in his hand and turn her head until he was looking into her eys and tell her, "Non, it's Hope."

1) Rogue pulling Gambit back from heaven.

2) Seeing Rogue and Gambit possibly dead after being speared by Vargas.

3) Don't know if I have a favorite, but I think I like your story best so far, Lucia.

4) Not sure if I'd call it a quirk, but something strange/funny... they've both been blind and have had to help each other with that blindness.

5) In the words of Lorna Dane: "Two tylenol and a power inhibitor, and go right to bed."

6) Can't think of anything off the top of my head.

7) Mystique when she's around, Rogue's inability to want to try workarounds for her powers to be able to 'almost' touch people, or Gambit's lack of thought regarding trying workarounds.

Cool Have to go with trust.

9) If they weren't mutants I'd doubt they'd have met. Gambit would still be a thief, but as good as he is now without his extra agility and senses due to his powers will be up to debate. Rogue probably would have explored her relationship and continued with her law degree... Kinda funny when you think about it. Gambit is a thief and Rogue has a minor degree in law. Irony at its finest.

Oh thank goodness! The hate-wagon in Gambit & Rogue as well as the Cyclops poll was seriously off-putting. Anywhatever, my $0.02 CAD ($0.0012 USD).

1) The boysenberry pie moment. It was playful on both ends with that spicy sort of snap that made me fall in love with the pairing.

2) AOA didn't exist, Lalalala, I'm not listening. The lead-up to the Trial. It was a let down after that but everything to that point pushed all my fannish buttons.

3) The Prologue of "Paradox Law" BROKE me. In a good way. Many teenage tears were shed. On the happier side, all of "Out of Control" by KazeRogue. It's full of great moments-- dancing, a strong Rogue, a charming Remy, a motorcycle, DANCING. OH, I'm getting cavities just thinking about it.

4) They LIKE snarking at each other. It's like verbal copulation.

5) A 60gig iPod with a solar-rechargable battery (yes that counts as one) and sunscreen. Really, that's all they need.

6) Gambit likes his gestures to be seen/hear/smelled etc but the biggest has to be staying with the X-Men. He hung around to make sure that Storm was okay but the stayed for Rogue. I'm not sure even he knows that.

7) Neither one knows how to trust. Go figure with their histories.

8 ) She's wanted to fix his Ducati. He won't let anyone but His Mechanic back down in New Orleans touch it but Rogue just knows she could make it run better, mod a few useful things in, maybe add a few accessories to pimp it up tastefully. One day...

9) Gambit would be a thief and Rogue would own her own business. It's a toss-up between a bookshop, a carshop or a cafe. Maybe all three.

10) They never got around to naming it because they starting bickering about the name which then turned into an impromptu tussle and then things fade to black from there.

1) when she goes to hold him after they finally "did it"

2) the trial and the whole antartica thing afterwards

3) don't know anymore.

4) umm... well she is such a tomboy and he seems to have a great sense of taste in all forms of art and fashion....hmmm...

5) a really, really thin sheet of fabric, a genoshian collar, and a lie detector.

6) not put her in her place everytime she does something incredibley aweful to him (which is alot)

7) tie between writters who are dieing to have thier version of one of thier break-ups to be the most memoriable. rogue jumping on whoever she can touch.

Cool Wink

Next Round (feel free to jump in and add your own questions people!):

1) How do you foresee their "reunion" going post-200?

2) How did you really feel about the "Joseph incident"?

1) How do you foresee their "reunion" going post-200?

How I expect it to go: According to the story's presentation Gambit was in the wrong and any grievances he may have are completely unfounded, untrue, or unimportant.

2) How did you really feel about the "Joseph incident"?

Well, I think Rogue just using Joseph as a way of getting back at Gambit for the memories she absorbed in the theater. Even though she had left him in a coma and rejected his offer of the truth(which would have sent him right back into that coma), she was acting petty and vindictive as if it were all his fault. She also dragged an innocent(as far as *this* conflict goes) man into their conflict by toying with him (promising to tell him what kind of a man he used to be when he thought he was Magneto even though she never really did).

So very very hard being the last naive fangirl. uglystupid2

It'll actually have an unexpected twist. I mean, Mike Carey wrote Lucifer and dang well too so that means he (literally) has sympathy for the devil. I hope the Lobdell-based angst washes off with the black skin and the wrinkly chin.

Quote
2) How did you really feel about the "Joseph incident"?
Useless plotpoint created by writers who really didn't know how else to draw out the ZOMG Rogue/Gambit tragedy. That said, it made for very interesting fics. (Warning: link not worksafe).

AHAHAHAHAH!!! SUCCESS!!!! Grin Grin
But a warning: It's incomplete.
And looking at the last update time, something tells
me that chapter 18 is as far as it's gonna
go. Cry Cry
Eh, maybe I can just write up my own conclusion.
(I wish. I don't really consider myself too good of
a fan-fic writer.)

http://www.fanfiction.net/s/1361188/1/
If the link doesn't work it's titled La Destin?e Chere
by Summer Flare1.

Thank goodness for those C2 community things.
And here I thought they weren't good for anything!

There's also another one shot fic
that I thought was so good at the time, I wondered
what the person was even doing writing fan-fiction it was so great.
But I can search that on my own.

Although, it was something about them meeting secretly at night
and her crying, if anyone should know that one.
Don't think it had much dialouge.

Now onto round 2:

1) How do you foresee their "reunion" going post-200?

Possibly teary, if she really loves him as much
as he loves her. And especially if she's not acting
like....how she used to anymore.

2) How did you really feel about the "Joseph incident"?

Well, I don't know that much about it.
So, uh....

it sucks ? Embarrassed

1.) I'm still waiting to see Rogue be the traitor in 200, and join the Marauders. Wouldn't that be interesting (not to mention humorous). Her and Gambit/Death avoid each other at first, then viola! Near the end of the arc they betray the Marauders and Sinister from within, and return to the X-Men with their bond being stronger than ever, claiming they knew what they were both doing all along.

Wishful thinking, I know. But hey, a guy can dream.

2.) I guess in the Marvel world, a happy couple = boring, so they through Joseph in as a plot device to mess up an already messed up relationship. ROMY fans everywhere hated Joseph with a passion, myself included, at the time. Towards the end of the Joseph run, I was just shaking my head. It was one of many things making me disappointed in Marvel. Wasn't long after that, I stopped subscribing till X-Treme.

Round The First: (Keep it clean, people!)

1 ) What, in your opinion, has been the best Rogue/Gambit moment in canon?
Would have to go with the date in X-Men #24
2 ) What was the most heart-wrenching?
A toss up between X-Men #45 (Gambit wakes up to find out that Rogue has run off on a road trip with iceman) & Uncanny X-Men #350 (what i love to call the trial of fools)
3 ) What was your favourite ROMY moment in fanfiction? (Links please!)
hmmmmmmm ... can I get away with to many to list or link ... gambit smiley
4 ) What's the oddest quirk these two have?
the playful banter of a old married couple ...
5 ) If Rogue and Gambit were stuck on an island, what would you equip them with to make the best of their time alone?
If there with each other whatelse would they need ... (besides maybe a force field to keep everyone else away)
6 ) What's the sweetest thing Gambit ever did for Rogue that she doesn't know about?
Stole the crown jewels for his Queen Of Hearts (Sadly the Professor made him return them and wiped it from rogue memory)
7 ) What do you feel gets in the way of their relationship the most?
Writers, Magneto, Joseph, Mystique, Southern Stubbornness
8 )What's the one thing Rogue has wanted to do for Remy since they first met?
A legal Wedding Annulment from Belle Donna
9 ) If Rogue and Gambit weren't mutants, what would they be doing right now?
Modern Day Bonnie And Clyde ... with a robinhood twist (Because its all about the thrill of the pinch together)
10 ) This one time, sitting on the roof of the Institute, Remy and Rogue discovered a new star. What do you think they named it?
What New Star? ... (There to lost gazing into each others eyes then to notice a star)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Now onto round 2:
1 ) How do you foresee their "reunion" going post-200?
(Stealing a page out of X-Men: Evolution book) Remy walks up to rogue and hands her the queen of hearts ... sadly rogue is to shocked to see him, she hardly has enough time to get rid of the card before it explodes ... later she realizes it was code for he still loves her and looks are not always how they seem ...
2 ) How did you really feel about the "Joseph incident"?
hated it ... gives me the shivers to think rogue would value a clone of the X-Men's #1 enemy over gambit ... add to that he didn't understand her very well ... makin a machine so they could touch instead of supportin and tryin to help her get control of her powers
