While the Romy thing may be old, if she chooses Mags over Gambit. . . ? I mean seriously, I would be offended.  It was bad enough they made him a cradle robber the first time.  I mean, he's jewish.  Not mormon.  Savageland and AoA baffle me, because he is a favorite tragic villain of mine, and they make him into a borderline pedophile.  Ugh, I swear, men pair Rogue with Erik on the dream of they, themselves, landing their own Anna Nicole Smith.  Not only does it make Rogue look bad, but Magneto worse! And that just burns me.  >:(

AOA Magneto was straight out a pedophile.  It was gross.  Couldn't believe Marvel thought it was romantic, it was sick.  I guarantee they'll have it be Magneto, and I won't come near a Marvel comic book because even that is like Anna Nicole Smith and Howard Marshall (same age difference) and Rogue will act like Anna Nicole Smith when she's with Magneto too.  Ugh, that's so not Rogue.

Oh and people who hate Romy- it's Marvel editorial policy that no couples ever can stay together, they always break them up no matter what.  Fabian Nicieza told me this 10 years ago.  And you want proof that this still holds true- look what they did to Spiderman and Mary-Jane, and they're always breaking up Sue and Reed, they killed off Jean and had Scott hook up with Emma, etc. . .   It doesn't matter who the couple is and that the overwhelming majority of readers love them together-  Sue and Reed, Peter and Mary-Jane, Gambit and Rogue, etc. . .  Marvel will break them up, there will never again be any permanent romantic relationships in Marvel comics.  That ended when Tom DeFalco (who likes characters being in permanent romantic relationships) stepped down from being Editor In Chief in 1994.  Bob Harris hated permanent romantic relationships in comics, and Quesada  even moreso.   Gambit and Rogue are fantastic together when a writer likes the characters and doesn't have an editor that hates all permanent couples breathing down their necks.  Even in X-men:The End where Gambit and Rogue did get to be very happily married and had two kids (they should have been the ones with a passel of kids not Scott and Emma)  Rogue got killed off, again Marvel policy- no permanent couples, no matter what. ) But if a writer likes both Gambit and Rogue and gets them together, while they are together it's the most sexy, fun romantic stuff you'll see in superhero comics.  Gambit and Rogue just jump off the page and come to life before your eyes.

The way superhero comics are written- that goes for DC too- which is infamous for killing off the female part of a romantic superhero couple to end the relationship, I'd rather everyone just stay friends  with no romances as long as superhero comics are written that way.  I'll stick to manga for my dramatic romantic stories.  In manga- even ones targeted to teenage boys, romantic plotlines involve two people gradually falling in love and becoming a permanent couple.   Right now I'm loving the angsty struggle that Naruto Uzumaki and Sakura Haruno are going through in  Naruto in their gradually growing to become a couple.  Kishimoto is building toward these two passionate idealistic young people becoming a powerful world changing couple at the end of the story.

Once Fabian Nicieza told me that was actual Marvel editorial policy to have no permanent romantic relationships in their comics anymore I stopped bothering to even pick up superhero comics issues unless it was during a time one of the couples I shipped were together again.  As soon as I see the first signs the plotline is heading towards breakup I stop even looking at them again.  It's really sad to me that Marvel policy has made some readers hate the most excitingly romantic couple that was ever created in superhero comics.   It seriously just makes my heart break.   :'(

Couldn't agree more ciardha. It would be like Robin without Batman, or Watson without Sherlock holmes. But at least Mike Carey is using them together

I literally can't wait until #234 comes out.   It's so far off though! Do you guys think it will be Gambit and Magneto gunning for Rogue's affection, or will someone else appear from the sidelines? I can't really think of anyone else who has had previous involvement with Rogue.  .  .

I think we're getting worked up for a big let down.  We'll see.  Release date is March 17th.

True ... The're probably just going to pull a X-Men #58 http://www.uncannyxmen.net/db/issues/showquestion.asp?fldAuto=215 because that's the stand that would make Rogue come off as the most "powerful" and Carey loves to write her in that vein. Which isn't a bad thing just trite.

I really don't see the point in Rogue 'choosing' anyone right now, even if it's herself.  She already told Gambit less than ten issues ago that she didn't want to talk about relationships, so I don't see why she should have to tell him again unless it's just more punishment.  The only lead in to a relationship issue has been Magneto hitting on her, Gambit's really done nothing untoward from issue 224.  Maybe Pulse will turn up and be the other guy and Gambit isn't involved.  I really hope he isn't, it's the last thing his character needs especially now he's Deathing up when he gets pissed off.

My thing is why does she have to be with anyone right now. Dont get me wrong I love ROMY...that's what got me hooked on Gambit in the first place. But come on.  She is an I-N-D-E-P-E-N-D-E-N-T woman (sorry about that too much rap music this morning). So why cant she start the journey inward to find what she is really looking for.
